" Our story evolves . People, places and experiences
come and go burning a place in our hearts ;
pieces in our formation."
"On the day of judgment , surely , we will not be asked
what we have read but what we have done, not how
well we have spoken, but how well we lived."
- The Imitation od Christ , Thomas A' Kempis
"Remembrance is a form of meeting"
- Kahil Gibran
Inspiration:
Recent encounters and exchanges with a
life long friend
and new acquaintances recaptured a
lost chord -
connection , consolation and impermanence.
Each morning's spiritual exercise includes
intentions of gratitude and blessings,
naming many
met along an uncharted Camino. Some are
gone, some have
moved on , some come and go and a
few still remain.
Wayfaring strangers and fatigued
sherpas seeking
their Everest are unexpectedly welcomed, all
with opened hearts,
by the burning light ,
discovering the serenity of a
sojourner's campfire.
It seems that special encounters happen at just
the right
time and place. However, we are not
always aware
of the power and value in the essence
of this happenstance:
Mutuality - a time of give and take - a time where the nature
of the accidental conclave is transcended .
Interdependence.
This is not just a theory. It is the way of
existence in the universe,
isn't it? Mystics suggest it is proof -
the great sanctification.
The key is tending the fire. No judgments j
just welcoming
and being present. No questions about why -
just acceptance,
authenticity, humility and letting go when
it's time
to say farewell.
"Strangely it all turns out well"
"How?"
"I don's know - it's a mystery."
The Writing:
Meditaciónes Sencillos XII
Distressed not knowing
the end of the story,
supplications implore-
no sherpa to navigate the way
Another chapter possibly looming
another transcendent gap
another derealization.
Oh, the weight of ambiguity
Ancients assert an answer.
Silent ascetics contemplate.
Poets chase illusive images
expecting to flow like rivers.
Rain born of clouds
evaporated from an unknown sea
rising to the mysterious empyrean
waiting , waiting again
Illusive impeccable muse
- answers - beyond our command
